Editorial Standards & Ethics

The Rangers News Views Team follows a set of editorial standards designed to protect readers, contributors and the reputation of the publication. These standards apply to all content published on the site, including supporter submissions and editor-written pieces.

1. Accuracy & Fairness

We aim to ensure that our coverage is:

  • Factually accurate at the time of publication
  • Fair in its description of players, staff and clubs
  • Clear about what is confirmed fact versus opinion or prediction

If new information changes the understanding of a story, we may update the piece or publish follow-up coverage. Material errors are corrected in line with our Corrections Policy.

2. Independence

Rangers News Views is run as an independent outlet by “The Rangers News Views Team”. We are not controlled by Rangers FC, sponsors or external organisations when it comes to editorial decisions.

We do not accept payment to write positive or negative coverage of individuals, clubs or companies. Any future sponsored content will be clearly labelled as such.

3. Use of Sources

When referencing information from elsewhere, we consider:

  • The track record and reliability of the source
  • Whether the information has been corroborated by multiple outlets or official statements
  • Whether details are clearly labelled as “reported”, “expected” or “confirmed”

Anonymous or unverified claims are treated with caution and are not presented as established fact.

4. AI & Assisted Tools

We may use tools to assist with grammar, clarity and structure. However, we do not use automated systems to invent transfer stories, quotes or statistics. Editorial control and responsibility remain with human editors within The Rangers News Views Team.

5. Respectful Language

We encourage strong opinion, but we draw a clear line at:

  • Personal abuse or targeted harassment
  • Discriminatory language or hate speech
  • Statements that are clearly defamatory or malicious

Submissions or comments that cross this line are not published or are removed.

6. Complaints & Editorial Concerns

Readers who believe a piece is unfair, misleading or breaches these standards can contact us using the Contact page or by emailing editor@rangersnewsviews.co.uk. Please include a link to the article, details of the concern and any supporting information.
