There’s a real opening for Rangers over the next few fixtures, and it’s one of those moments that can define a season without anybody realising it at the time. The schedule doesn’t hand you perfect conditions, the squad doesn’t suddenly become injury-free, and form doesn’t magically smooth itself out. But you still get chances to make ground, to steady the ship, and to remind everyone we’re not going away.

Truth is, it doesn’t need to be pretty right now. I’m not looking for fireworks or a masterclass every week. I’m looking for a steady starting XI, a bit of continuity, and the kind of graft that turns patchy form into points on the board. That’s what keeps you in the hunt. That’s what buys time for confidence to come back.

Three games, no freebies

Hearts at Ibrox always feels like a marker. Beat them and it’s not just three points, it’s a statement that we can handle pressure and do the basics properly. But the Motherwell game is just as big in its own way. They’re in good form, they’re right around us, and these are exactly the fixtures where you either assert yourself or you end up chasing your tail again.

Then you’ve got St Mirren, and nobody needs reminding what that can look like. They make it awkward, they compete for everything, and they rarely give you a minute to settle. It’s the sort of game where the crowd gets restless if we don’t start quickly. The players need to be ready for that and not let it drift into one of those afternoons.

Forget January noise, focus on the now

I get it, January will be talked about to death. It always is. But you can’t play transfer windows, you play football matches. The only thing that matters in the short term is who’s available, who can start, and who can get us through a run without constant chopping and changing.

To his credit, Danny Rohl has been trying to get a tune out of what he’s got. That’s not an excuse for anything, but it’s fair. If he can squeeze a bit more out of this group over the next few games, it changes the whole feel of the place going into the new year.

Hope is allowed, but earn it

Nine points from the next three is a big ask, no point pretending otherwise. But it’s also the kind of swing that suddenly has you thinking differently. One game at a time, absolutely. Yet Rangers should always be targeting maximums, especially when the opportunity’s sitting there.

And aye, you can’t help but glance across the city and notice a bit of noise and drama. Maybe the tide is turning, maybe it isn’t. Either way, it only matters if we do our own job. Win our games, make it uncomfortable for everyone else, and then see where things stand.
