We aren’t a ‘wow’ team and recent results have exposed that. Dropped points against weaker sides and a poor run at the wrong time make this feel like another missed season.

The crunch moments have cost us

To be fair, you can sympathise with the lads on occasion, but the truth is we haven’t been ruthless. Failing to beat a Celtic side that many fans say are below par, losing points to Falkirk and drawing or losing from positions you’d expect us to close out — these are the moments that define a campaign. It’s not just one game. It’s a pattern of not taking opportunities when they mattered most.

Hearts have quietly become a real threat

Plenty of supporters wrote Hearts off earlier in the season, pointing to Aberdeen or talking them down. I warned they’d be a danger and got flak for it. Watching them play, they look organised and confident, the sort of side that punishes wobble. That all matters when title races tighten up. We can argue about how bad Celtic are for hours, but the simple fact remains: they’ve collected more of the recent trophies and we haven’t matched that output.

Still a chance — but the form says otherwise

Is there still a chance? Of course, mathematically it rarely shuts down until it does. But momentum matters. Our form has nosedived and confidence seems thin. I don’t want to be doom-mongering, but this is the kind of run that tends to see us fall short. We’ve bottled it before in crunch moments and this season is starting to feel the same. It’s on the manager and the dressing room to steady the ship — and quickly.

It’s the sort of argument we’ve been having on Rangers News Views for a while: pride, fight and consistency are the three things we need back — and soon.
