Admit it, I was wrong. That was a brilliant result and performance against a side who are flying in the league, and everything clicked when we needed it most.
Gassama and the attack
To be fair, watching Gassama take players on was a joy. He found space, carried the ball with real threat and made defenders think. When your wide players are beating men and getting crosses or cutbacks in, it changes the whole tempo. Chermiti's red hot streak continued too, and you can see why confidence breeds goals. Those moments of composure in the box have been the difference for us recently.
Olsen looks excellent value, and if the fee people have mentioned is anywhere near right then honestly, it's a steal. He links play well and gives the team another dependable option going forward. Miovski looks settled as well; if he keeps getting the right service he should beat his previous best figures by season end, no question.
Defence that didn't blink
The defence were properly solid. To keep a clean sheet against a side that are taking points off everyone is no small feat. Tav and Sputter led from the back, organised and sharp. You could see the communication and the way the team shifted across when under pressure. To call for ridiculous new contracts in the heat of the moment is fun, but the truth is they earned every bit of praise on the night.
There were no needless panics, little sloppy gifting of chances, and that calm when the opposition tried to break us down made all the difference. We defended as a unit, and that collective work often wins games before a striker gets the plaudits.
What this means for the title race
Right now it feels like a two-horse race between us and Motherwell. Celtic look off the pace from where I sit, and this result swings momentum firmly our way. Confidence matters in runs like this, and nights where everything clicks build belief. To be clear, there is a long way to go, but performances like this give you the feeling we can keep pace.
So yes, I was wrong earlier. Celebrate the night, enjoy the cracks in the opposition's armour, and keep the pressure on. If you'll excuse me, I'm off to enjoy the banter — Santa and the Tooth Fairy can cover the celebratory nonsense. Back to business next game.
