Glasgow Rangers Current Team Analysis
A brief look at where this Rangers squad stands just now, touching on the concerns supporters are raising and the issues that continue to surface across the pitch.
Thought I'd do a wee Glasgow Rangers squad analysis as I've gone on X after the game and it seems the fans are beginning to turn on Danny Rohl after it was mentioned in the Rangers Rumours live chat by 1 or 2 as well.
Butland - Good shot stopper but has a mistake in him.
Kelly - nothing more than back up.
Tav - legs have gone, our most creative player but set piece delivery on most occasions not even beating the first man.
Sterling - made of chocolate.
Aarons - looks like a scared wee boy, too safe in passing and dribbling.
Meghoma - is a wee boy and looks it majority of the time.
Djiga - better today but send him home.
Souttar - siege defender, woeful on the ball and can't judge flight of the ball.
Fernandez - small sample size but has been solid without being spectacular.
Cornelius - another who has been solid but not spectacular.
Nsiala - was crap last season but as he's disappeared and been hounded out he's the next saving grace.
Barron - been our best midfielder this season which can show the drop in standards at the same time as his improvement. Has become less of a headless chicken and more of a driving force in the press.
Raskin - form has fell off a cliff after the whole Martin Vs Raskin episode.
Diomande - sell sell sell, very similar to Aasgaard, shows good touches but in positions where it matters little and the end product after those touches is poor. Discipline been shocking this season as well.
Rothwell - looks like a grandpa in the flesh and his play style. Sell.
Aasgaard - lazy, nonchalant, non-effective, but has a good touch "for a big man", can't use his physicality.
Bajrami - a player so often criticised has all of a sudden become a starter, if that doesn't show the standard Rohl has been left with the striker positions will.
Cameron - the much sought after former Dundee player, showed a few flashes under Martin but nothing extraordinary and has become our saviour as he's dropped out the line up and match day squad.
Gassama - showed early promise but has fell off a cliff in form. Can't score simple chances, takes too many touches and can hold the ball too long. He's like that kid that was the best player in the school so never passed and when you went into big boy football they were flashy but ineffective.
Antman - holy feart. This player looks panicked most times he's on the ball, reminds me of a boy I played 5's against from work that didn't play football in the way he dribbles. Always wants to come inside.
Curtis - our 18 year old prodigal son. Potential there? Maybe. As much as some fans think and say? Probably not. He's our new McAusland.
Chermiti - I'm saying nothing but 1 goal for 8-10 million.
Miovski - is not suited to playing against a low block or if expected to link up play. He's your typical poacher type striker and that isn't working for us.
Danilo - our current "best" or "first choice" striker. Baring in mind he was 3rd choice the previous 2 seasons. How that happens without growth. Well you know how.
The sad truth is we are a squad who is no better than Hibs, Motherwell, Hearts. We don't have habitual winners in the squad, we don't have creativity in the squad.
The other sad truth is Danny Rohl has had 5 weeks with this dross. In that time he's probably lucky to have had the whole squad on the training pitch 10 times due to fixture list and internationals. He started to get a tune out of Moore, he gets injured. In those limited sessions he's had to try undo a full pre-season of 'Cabbage ball'.
We are a squad of pretenders, built by charlatans and that shined through today, with the overall mood around the support making it clear how fragile belief has become and how much work lies ahead.
