We can all agree on one simple thing: chances have to mean something. Some lads have had them and made the most of them. Others have had run-outs, chances under different gaffers, and it just hasn't clicked. Fair play for effort, but we need to be ruthless about what the team actually needs now.
Shankland: more than a goalscorer
Shankland gets way too much stick from folk who only look at the scoresheet. He's spent seasons building his game and you can see it in how he reads play now. His goals are important, of course, but his hold-up play and the way he links with midfielders and wide players often gets overlooked.
To be fair, he brings a physical presence that helps teams get through tough spells. He knows when to drop, when to move inside and when to peel off defenders to create space. That's football brain, and it's earned him minutes and a place in the conversation for a reason.
Braga: a proper freak signing
Braga feels like one of those signings that just works out of nowhere. You don't always get players who adapt and look comfortable playing at our level straight away. He's got that bit of quality that makes you sit up and notice — the kind of signing other teams dream about landing once in a while.
Whether he stays long-term or moves on to a slightly bigger stage, the important thing is he looks capable of doing a job for us now. That kind of player is worth backing because he can change games without shouting for attention every time.
King: not there yet
As a defender, King hasn't shown he's Rangers class. At this point he's struggling to get near our midfield in terms of influence and presence. Other midfielders we bring in or look at often come with a long record — some have played 200 games before we even realise they might help us.
That doesn't mean King won't get there. He may well develop into a useful player down the line. Right now, though, he isn't offering what the team needs in the middle. Patience is fine, but so is recognising when a player needs more time away from our starting eleven.
Truth is, we've handed out chances. Now it's about deciding who moves us forward — and who still needs to prove it.
