Rangers Struggles As Key Players Falter Again
Rangers’ latest performance, highlighting individual struggles, lack of quality and deeper issues across the team.
Another Night of Hard Truths
This Glasgow Rangers team is woeful just now, with no heart, courage or real quality across the park. Raskin and Diomande were awful last night, Danilo was back to his usual running into bodies, and the defence looked miles off it. Barron at least worked hard, Chermiti grafted but had no service, and Gassama was much the same as Danilo. Two big signings came on in the 90th minute, which says everything about where we are. Little wonder we didn’t win.Individual Performances
Barron never stops, while Raskin constantly does. Chermiti didn’t get a sniff but grafted alongside Barron for the entire game. The defence was comical at times, with Djiga showing early on he wasn’t good enough, yet still playing, partnered by a giant donkey. Big money went on two lads who came on in stoppage time, and it’s not nearly good enough. Meghoma should have started, Miovski looks finished, and Raskin again seems a legend in his own mind. Serious questions are forming over the manager too, because this lot look nowhere near a winning Rangers side.Concerns Across the Squad
Fernandez and Djiga shouldn’t be near England’s third tier, never mind Rangers. Chermiti is a centre forward, and when he gets no service all he can do is work for the team, which he does in spades. Raskin could try playing some football, Gassama could show composure, and Aasgaard and Antman need to prove they belong at this level. Chermiti and Barron kept trying, but Djiga and Fernandez were laughable, Raskin was awful again, and Barron was miles better. Gassama looked like a “doo wi nae heed,” Aarons offered nothing, and we somehow managed to throw the game away. It’s worrying what the manager claims he saw.Forward Options and Missed Opportunities
Dessers was never a great footballer but lived in a comfort zone and scored regularly, even if he went missing in big games. He wanted away, just like Igamane and Cerny, so there’s no point blaming anyone else. Comparing him to the 55 side only works if you mean him instead of Morelos in that unique season. Not every striker is prolific; some offer different qualities, and it’s down to the manager to decide what he wants. Shankland is absolutely good enough and would be our top scorer without doubt. Miovski was never going to “smash it,” and from day one it was obvious Danilo was a sanddancer — plenty movement, little end product. What Rangers Need Going Forward
Neither of those forwards should still be at Rangers, and I’m starting to think Chermiti needs a partner, the way some strikers do. McCoist comes to mind, and someone like Arfield would have thrived playing off him. The boy needs goals because he’s trying very hard, and there’s no reason to abuse him for putting in the work. Miovski still makes no sense when Shankland was sitting there in the summer. Shankland would be flying at Rangers. Some folk act like Rangers are the only team opponents defend against, but Shankland faces plenty and still scores. Teams come to win at Ibrox nowadays too. This is now a big job, and it starts with selling.Discuss rumours and transfers on our Rangers rumours web site.
