We keep doing the same thing: promising first halves followed by second-half collapses. It isn't always down to fitness — too often it feels like a mentality problem. You cannot switch off at half-time, even if the scoreline looks comfortable.
Second-half slump and mentality
Truth is, the team are playing 45-minute games and it's costing us. Players come out for the second half as if the job's done. That kind of thinking invites trouble — and we've seen how quickly control can be given away once the intensity drops. Harassing the opposition, staying aggressive on long balls and keeping pressure on the ball are basics. When we stop doing them, the game slips away.
Subs, shape and who should've come on
I get the idea behind Rohl going defensive, but the execution matters. If you're bringing a more conservative shape, fresh legs and balance at the back are essential. Where was Djiga Tav when the game needed stability and energy? A substitute who can steady things and clear crosses would have made sense. Delaying that change let momentum swing the wrong way.
Individual responsibility and worrying signs
Certain individuals raised alarm bells. Moore gave everything first half and understandably tired, but we still needed better coverage for crosses. Raskin's mistake left us vulnerable and afterwards he seemed to play scared, retreating when he should have been aggressive. Souttar wandering up at 2–nil felt like unnecessary risk — conserving energy and positional discipline matter in those moments. And Skov… I’m not sure what’s gone with him. He looks cautious now, not the hungry young player we used to see.
There’s no single fix. It's a mix of mindset, timely substitutions and clearer instructions from the bench. Fans can see the patterns: lose concentration, concede from crosses, panic reshuffle. Danny Rohl needs to spot and act faster, but the players must hold their nerve for the full 90 minutes. Until that changes, we'll keep getting punished.
