Short version: I’d favour a bold 4-3-1-2 on Sunday. We can overload their back line and test that centre‑back pairing, while still getting width from wingers and a midfield three that can control the engine room.
Why two up could be the right shout
To be fair, there’s something tempting about going two up. If Chermiti starts, you suddenly have a real focal point and someone who can unsettle defenders in a way a lone striker sometimes can’t. Pairing him with Naderi gives us pace and a different profile — hold up play and direct threat combined with runners in behind. You can see why putting two strikers right on top of Celtic’s centre-backs might force mistakes and create chances from second balls.
Midfield shape and who covers what
I like the idea of a midfield three of Raskin, Dio and Chuki. That gives us energy and balance. Raskin can anchor and tidy things up, Dio brings that industry and forward thrust, and Chuki supplies the bit of invention. With those three, the side wouldn’t be lightweight in midfield even with two up front — we’d still have cover for the full-backs and the ability to press in the middle.
The No.10 question — ASO, Moore or Bajrami?
That’s the tricky bit. Any of ASO, Moore or Bajrami could slot in behind the pair and each brings something different. ASO gives control and composure, Moore offers directness and intensity, Bajrami has that spark and unpredictability. You could also shift one of them wider depending on how the game unfolds, and Chermiti himself has shown he can operate off the wing in patches — I reckon he could do a job coming off a flank like he did with that second against them last time.
Ultimately it comes down to how we want to attack. If we want crosses into the box from wide men then two up makes perfect sense; if we prefer to dominate possession through midfield then a single striker with a creative No.10 might be safer. I’d back the 4-3-1-2 though — start aggressive, unsettle them early and see where it takes us. What do you lot think?
