Dahl, Skov Olsen and Pressure at Ibrox

Dahl might be a top prospect, but one player won't win the title on his own. Skov Olsen's struggles were about fitness and confidence, and you can't underestimate how different the pressure is at Rangers.

Why Dahl won’t fix everything

To be fair, Dahl does look the part on paper, a fantastic talent and a real prospect. But you can see why fans get frustrated when hope is put on one name. Winning the league or a treble is a collective grind. It’s about shape, squad depth, consistency over months, not flashes of individual brilliance. Ferguson won’t arrive and single-handedly transform the club overnight; no one player will lift us to a title on their own.

Skov Olsen, fitness not fear

The real issue with Skov Olsen hasn’t been the bright lights. From what we saw, it was fitness and match sharpness. Injuries sap confidence and pace, players hold back because they don’t want to risk another lay-off. That can make someone look flat, even uninterested, when really they’re carrying doubt. I don’t think he looked like a deer in the headlights so much as a man running on empty.

Coaches have to manage that carefully: get minutes, rebuild confidence, tweak training. It’s not instant. Fans can be impatient, but a fit, confident Skov Olsen is a different prospect to the one we saw.

Pressure at Ibrox is different

Scottish football has its own rhythms. Playing for Motherwell or St Mirren is not the same as playing for Rangers or Celtic. You feel it walking into Ibrox, expectation sits heavy. Hearts are probably the closest club who felt that pressure recently, and you could see how thin margins become when the heat is on. We were 15 points clear at one point, and expectations change the whole dynamic.

Look at managers too: some arrive with big reputations and still need time to build something that can handle the day-in, day-out pressure. Rohl came closest since Gerrard in some fans’ eyes, and comparisons will always be made. But you can’t forget context: squad, injuries, form. Football isn’t tidy.

Truth is, we need patience and a proper collective plan rather than pinning everything on one signing. Supporters will always want big names, but the league is won by teams who keep their heads, keep fit and play for one another. That’s how trophies come back to Ibrox.
