So here we are, a busy day in the market. Driouech looks set to be announced on a four-year deal with an option for a fifth, though a slight knock might keep him out of the starting XI on Sunday. Penrice seems to be the one we’ll get, not Meghoma, and AEK’s business looks like the familiar loan-with-option dance that could end up around £2.5–3m. That part feels straightforward enough, even if we’ll need to wait on official confirmation.
Full-back choices and the Sterling situation
Hugo Siquet is tipped as the preferred right back and nothing is entirely dead yet, but it’s one of those deals that will need the player or agent to push and for us to loosen the purse strings. Nedeljkovic is another name being looked at in the defensive mould, and both could be brought in if Sterling is moved on from Ibrox, which apparently people behind the scenes are trying to arrange. Hampus Skøglund also remains on the list, so the club aren’t short of options at the back.
Attacking targets and where we stand
There’s still interest in Cozier-Duberry and a clear hunt for another right-sided attacker to supplement Yokota. Neo Jönsson from Sirius is monitored, while Oskar Fallenius is said to be off our radar now. Ryan Oné looks unlikely as a permanent option, but a loan could be on the cards if circumstances allow. The chatter around Piroe seems to be dead in the water.
Strikers, exits and sensible windows
One name to watch is Mojmír Chytil from Slavia, reportedly not a loan and possibly connected to Miovski moving on. Gelhardt is still an option too. On the other hand, the Cameron Archer story is apparently a non-starter and the club aren’t interested. It all points to a transfer window where the board are balancing need and opportunity, trying to plug gaps without overreaching. To be fair, that’s exactly what we’d expect this summer.
As ever, none of this is final until the ink is dry, but you can see the outline: a centre-forward could come in if Miovski leaves, the right side is being prioritised, and the club prefer pragmatic deals rather than headline-grabbing gambles. I’d rather we sign steady players who fit the system than chase big names for the sake of it. Fingers crossed the board and sporting team get the balance right, sensible additions, depth where it’s needed, and a coherent plan for the season.
