Let’s cut through the noise. Football’s full of emotion, sure, but that doesn’t mean we should paper over consistent underperformance. You don’t win league titles or cups when key players are off the boil, and excuses only stall progress.
No more hand-wringing for the underperformers
To be blunt: persistent poor form needs addressing. Fans are tired of the same justifications for players who haven’t been doing the job. Whether it’s someone struggling on loan, a big-money arrival failing to hit the target, or a squad member getting rewarded with a new deal and then being dropped—these decisions matter. We’ve all seen players who look like they’ve got no fight; that isn’t the Rangers way.
Loans, signings and looking after our young talent
Loaning players should help the club, not be a long-term holding pattern for others’ youngsters while our own prospects slip through the net. It’s hard to argue with the idea that if we consistently develop other teams’ kids and can’t keep our best, we’re storing problems for the future. Likewise, paying big fees for someone with little proven scoring history and expecting instant salvation is a gamble; sometimes it pays off, often it doesn’t.
Attitude, fight and the manager’s role
There’s a reason Barron gets applause: hunger, energy and desire are obvious every game. That’s infectious. If more of our talented lads showed half that commitment we’d be in a far better place. Managers take heat for tough decisions. Some would have given Martin another window; others feared it would worsen things. Most support Rohl, but backing doesn’t mean he’s above critique. Football’s messy. That’s what makes it brilliant.
At the end of the day these are opinions, not hard facts. If we end up lifting the title, then fair enough—everything looks different when you’ve won. Until then, reasonable criticism and debate are part of being a fan. Nobody’s post is inherently more important than another’s. Keep it passionate, keep it civil, and enjoy the game.
