There’s a simple point here: when we sign someone who looks like real quality, expectations rocket. That’s normal. But the truth is players often need time to settle, especially with the pressure that comes at Rangers. Olsen has the character people talk about. Give him a bit of space and he can show us what he’s about.
Why patience matters
Football isn’t instant. New signings have to adapt to a new stadium, new team-mates, different tempo. Sometimes the training ground clicks but the match situation doesn’t. From the terraces you can see the frustration — I get it. We’re desperate for success. But rushing to judgement rarely helps. If Olsen has the temperament and ability people say he has, time will let that come through.
The pressure from supporters
We’re loud, passionate and we want results. That’s part of being a Rangers fan. But when a player doesn’t hit the ground running we often vent, and messages can become personal or unfair. That’s the danger. It can chip away at confidence. Managers know this. The dressing room knows this. What helps is calm, measured support alongside the rightful demands for standards.
What I’d like to see
Keep the bar high. Expect improvement and let the manager do his work. Back the player when he gives everything and point out what needs to change when it’s deserved, but avoid the kneejerk. Let the coach coach, let the player play, and let time do some of the heavy lifting. If Olsen’s class is there, it will show in consistency — not just one or two flashes.
To be fair, forums will always have hot takes and heated threads. That’s part of it. But for the sake of the team, a bit more patience won’t hurt. We all want the same thing — success. Sometimes patience is the shortest route to it.
