Patience Over Panic

Let’s be straight: fans have every right to be fed up. But replacing a squad every season won’t fix the deeper problem. Stability, patience and a clear plan are the things we’re missing. Keep changing personnel and you’ll never let a team breathe.

Stop the merry-go-round

It’s hard to swallow the idea that multiple recruitment teams have all been unlucky, every single time. The simpler explanation is turnover. You can’t expect players to click straight away when 13 or 14 faces change every summer. Chemistry doesn’t appear overnight. Managers need time to teach shape, press and tempo; players need minutes together to learn positions and make off-the-ball runs work.

Why patience actually pays off

To be fair, fans want signings who make a difference. But if the board wants to spend sensibly and maybe afford three or four top-level additions down the line, they need a base to build from. Keeping seven or eight dependable starters into the next season gives any manager something to work with. It’s about creating a tactical foundation where new pieces slot into an existing spine, not tearing the thing down and starting again every time.

We can grumble and still be constructive

There’s nothing wrong with demanding better — we all want silverware. You can see why comparisons with Celtic come up; a stable core helps them keep going. And yes, supporters were quick to celebrate the Gerrard era when he was afforded time to construct a squad. That patience matters. Turning on the team after a couple of poor results is short-sighted. If we want long-term progress, the harsh truth is we’ll have to stomach a quieter transition now to give ourselves a real chance later.

Call it stubborn loyalty if you like, but I’d rather steady progress and clearer recruitment than constant upheaval and empty promises. Time to back a plan, not the panic button.
