Valuing Our Rangers Squad

To the point: there’s a real case that a handful of our players could fetch big money right now. Comparing to Celtic’s recent sale helps explain why their lads can command higher fees, but we’ve got assets of our own that shouldn’t be undervalued.

Why some fees feel inflated

To be fair, when a rival has already banked 25m for a top player it sets a market benchmark. Clubs buying from Scotland will point to that when valuing talent. You can see why agents and clubs would lean on that figure when pushing for more. Engels being linked with that sort of interest only stiffens other clubs’ resolve when pricing their players.

The list and my numbers

Here’s the valuation I’d stand by if we were selling now. I’m not saying these will happen, just what I’d accept. Chermiti — 22m. I genuinely think he could end up very valuable and that price feels reasonable for a top prospect. Raskin — 18m minimum. Solid, versatile and someone who’s earned that kind of estimation in my view. Diogo (Dio) — 7 to 10m. A range depending on interest and form, but he’s got buyers if we wanted to move him.

Fernandez — 17m plus. I’d ask for that and more if a club came in. Gassman — 8m plus. Antman — 4m plus. Aasgaard — 7/8m. Those are personal bottom lines, not promises, but they reflect how I’d value each player today.

What it could mean and why it matters

Stacked together, those valuations could top eighty million if the market matches them. That’s a striking number for Rangers, especially after finishing third; it shows how much value is sitting in the squad. Will every offer hit those marks? Probably not. But it’s a reminder we’re not bereft of sellable assets and that sensible negotiation could turn players into meaningful funds.

Happy to have this debate — prices will always be subjective. I’m firmly of the opinion these players are worth the figures above, and it’s encouraging to see the squad carrying real market value again.
