We're in the middle of a title fight and, to be fair, things are moving in the right direction. That doesn't mean we should accept poor business or stop expecting the best, but it does mean now is not the time for constant negativity from our own fans. Being helpful doesn't equal blind loyalty, but endless slating when the lads need backing feels daft.
Support the players through the hard graft
You can see why folk get frustrated — expensive signings that don't hit the mark hurt. Chermiti's fee is a sore point for plenty of us and that’s understandable. Still, publicly tearing into players every week isn't constructive. We often forget these are humans, not match reports. Backing a player through rough patches can be the difference between confidence and collapse.
We'll have our day of reckoning
Come the summer, there will be time for proper assessment. Contracts, transfers, who stays and who goes — that’s for the board and the manager to sort with calm heads. For now, while the team are improving and a title race is on, sensible support matters more. Critique is fine. Constant slagging? Not so much.
Negativity rarely helps the dressing room
Why does it bug me so much? Simple: culture. When supporters flip from praise to poison with every missed chance, it seeps into the atmosphere. Players need a chance to adapt, to learn, to show resilience. If we want to attract the right type of footballers in future, creating a supportive environment when things are tough helps as much as cheering them on when they’re brilliant.
So, this is a plea from one fan to many: temper the tweets, hold the hot takes, and give the team a bit of breathing room. We can judge properly when the window shuts and the season’s finished. Until then, back the lads on the park.
