Enough with the revolving door

There is a simple, painful truth here. We keep chopping and changing managers and platforms so often that any sensible player looks at us and thinks twice. You can see why a marquee signing would prefer somewhere more stable, and to be fair a loan might be the only option for now. The constant rebuilds are taking their toll.

Change is fine when it moves you forward. It is damaging when it becomes the default. We have become used to hitting reset every season, whether that is new coaching staff, different signings or a fresh way of playing. That puts the club in recovery mode more often than it is building momentum. The result is a mess of half-finished projects and a squad that never quite gels.

What would sticking with a manager for two or three seasons actually do? It gives continuity in recruitment, a clearer identity on the pitch and time for players to adapt to a system. It would help recruitment too. Players want to know what they are walking into. They want a manager with a plan and the backing to see it through, not a short-term patch job. I know a lot of fans will shout for change when results go sour, but patience can pay off.

There are financial realities, sure. European runs matter for income, and we have had brilliant nights in Europe in recent memory that showed what the club can be. But relying on an every-season miracle is not sustainable. Missteps in spending and recruitment have left us in a position where progress stalls. That is frustrating to watch as a supporter. We are not all on the same page — fans, players, management and board see things differently. Still, if the aim is long-term improvement, consistency has to come before quick fixes.

So yes, I understand the anger and the weariness. I am with you on that. But if we want to attract better players and actually move forward, we need to stop tearing things down every six months. Give the manager time to build, let the squad settle, and then judge the project properly. Fingers crossed we start seeing the benefits sooner rather than later.
