There’s been a list of players mentioned in the rumour mill — Skoglund, Devlin, Watt, Just and a few others — and while things have gone quiet in public, the noises I’m hearing suggest the club haven’t given up.
Names on the board — still worth watching
To be clear: lots of this is what folk are saying, not official lines. Skoglund’s name keeps coming up and I’ve even heard he paid a visit to our training centre, a point that was mentioned to me via EHL. Then there’s Devlin, Watt and Elijah Just on the list, plus talk of a Serbian youngster, Ferguson and possibly Dahl. Prenrice has also been mentioned as a left-back option.
Why the silence might actually be a good sign
Transfers rarely arrive with a trumpet blast. Sometimes the club moves quietly, checks happen and agents talk. Patience can be tactical: waiting on players to leave, sorting contracts, or letting negotiations breathe. If the main targets don’t materialise, you’d expect us to pivot — bids for Watt were specifically flagged in the chatter — so quiet doesn’t necessarily mean nothing is happening.
What these names would add — and the caveats
From what I’ve heard, there’s genuine interest because each player would address areas we need depth in. But remember the caveats: enquiries don’t equal deals. There are always stumbling blocks — fees, wages, other clubs — and sometimes moves take a week or two to firm up, or fizzle. I’m only sharing what’s been passed to me. We’ll see if any of it comes off, like other moves we’ve seen recently.
Would I take them all? Absolutely. They’d strengthen the squad and give Danny more options. For now, keep an eye on departures too — that might be the trigger for an incoming wave. Should be an interesting week or two.
