Time for Raskin to Move On

To be blunt, I'm done with Raskin. You can understand why some fans give him the benefit of the doubt — appearances, pedigree, whatever his background — but truth is he has fallen short of what this club needs in midfield. He rarely adds the bite or the creativity that wins games, and that matters at Rangers where matches are won in the middle of the park.

Where he falls short

There are moments when he tries, but too often his head goes down. He drops off when the pressure comes, gives the ball away on simple passes and isn't the kind of midfielder who offers a genuine goal threat. He's not the quickest either, which limits our transitions and leaves others chasing. Grit, industry, craft — we need more of all three.

What we need in midfield

Rangers have to field players who will press, carry the ball into the final third, and create chances on a weekly basis. That means midfielders who can fight for every loose ball, pick a pass under pressure and add goals from around the box. Squad balance is crucial; rotation is fine, but the spine of the team must be reliable. If a player isn't fitting that mould, it's hard to see how he stays a regular.

Look at how teams who dominate domestically are built: midfield runners and carriers who make life difficult for opponents and create overloads. It's not glamorous but it's the backbone of any successful side. Consistency matters far more than occasional flashes. To be honest, fans will forgive a quiet spell if a player gives everything every game. Where we struggle is when those quiet spells become the norm rather than the exception. That's the reality.

Time to move on

I don't begrudge anyone for backing him, but if the club can cash in and reinvest in players who do the dirty work and unlock defences then so be it. He’s had his time here and fans will move on — as they always do — once the club makes a clear decision. This isn't personal. It's about standards. We want players who will run, create and stand up every week, not just occasionally.
