Right now the mood’s mixed. Folks are understandably narked about the international shambles, but we can’t let it derail what matters most: Rangers. Del Boy is in charge and he’s ours to back, so international noise should be parked while we concentrate on the rebuild at club level.
Why the club comes first
You can see both sides — pride in seeing our boys picked for country and frustration when things go pear-shaped. Truth is, international campaigns are messy and sometimes damaging, but they’re also opportunities. For Rangers the priority should be sharpening the squad, getting players fit for the season ahead and building momentum at Ibrox. That’s where our day-to-day loyalty pays off.
About the players mentioned
There’s no point piling on the blame. Young Curtis, for one, will have learned more from the experience than he’ll admit. Mingle with higher-level players and coaches and you come back sharper — if you have the right head. Shankland and Soapy should be fine; they’ve shown resilience before. Clarke belongs in the conversation as a past figure unless he’s popping up in managerial chat — otherwise let sleeping dogs lie.
Time for an international reset
The referendum on international management and selection can wait. If reaching the last 32 would have painted someone a hero, fair enough — but it doesn’t change our immediate job. We need a sensible rebuild at national level, done properly and without dragging our club form through the mud. Let the internationals sort themselves out while we get on with supporting Del Boy and the Rangers lads who actually put on the blue shirt week in, week out.
To be fair, the whole saga gives us a chance to start again. Keep the young ones learning, keep the experienced heads steady, and let’s make sure Govan is the focus from now on.
