Plain and simple: if Rangers are to get Mikey Moore for another season it largely depends on what happens to Spurs. Relegation up north or down south doesn’t just change the league table — it reshuffles priorities, budgets and who stays or goes. That’s the reality and it’s not exactly comforting.

The simple truth

We all know the basic scenario. If Spurs go down they will almost certainly be looking to reduce costs and keep players who can help them bounce back. That would make it far less likely they’d send Moore out again. Even if they survive, the chance of a permanent move to Ibrox seems slim; the sensible expectation is another loan rather than a buy.

Why relegation matters more than you’d think

Relegation hits clubs where it hurts — TV money, sponsorship, everything that pays the wages. Teams tighten belts, sell higher earners and rearrange squads for the new grind. For a young player like Moore, that could mean being kept for the Championship campaign instead of being loaned. It’s not personal; it’s business. Spurs will be thinking about getting back up at the first opportunity and using the squad they believe gives them the best shot.

What we can hope for — and what to be realistic about

So what’s our best-case? Spurs stay up and we manage to negotiate another season-long loan. That’s where our hopes should sit. It’s realistic and doesn’t rely on miracles. We shouldn’t bank on buying him outright — reports and the wider context suggest that’s unlikely. The fans can hope he returns, flourishes at Ibrox again and gives us another season of quality, but the final call isn’t ours.

To be fair, interest in Moore existed before his initial loan — he’d signed a long-term deal with Spurs, so they clearly value him. That complicates everything. All we can do is keep backing the club, watch how the Premier League finishes, and hope the stars align for one more loan. No guarantees, just a sensible bit of optimism and an awareness of the hard realities.
