You can see the thinking here — a squad that balances the board's need for profit with the manager's need for quality and depth. Keep the big pieces where it matters, bring in a couple of smart additions and trim the fringe. It’s pragmatic, not glamorous, but that’s often what wins things in this league.

Goalkeepers and defence

Robbie McCrorie as third choice is a tidy, sensible shout. He ticks the club-trained box and brings familiarity without breaking the bank. Pandur remains the pick and Kelly as the backup feels right; McCrorie rarely needs to be asked to perform, but he’s there when required.

At the back the plan is straightforward: keep Ross McCrorie and Godfrey as the spine, keep Manny for another season if possible, with Nsiala as fourth choice. Skoglund at right-back for around €3-4m is the kind of tidy signing supporters like — obvious and sensible reinforcement.

Midfield and attack

The midfield reshuffle is about replacing and upgrading. Ferguson in for Raskin (the suggested €20m switch) plus Devlin as cover for Neil is clean business. Dahl as the priority signing — the poster in your head — makes sense if the club can get him. No wild hyperbole needed: the poster is optimistic and sees the player as a real talent.

Up front, Cerny for €5m would provide experience and a good learning partner for Lawson. Chermiti leading the line with Shanks and Naderi behind gives the attack a useful mix of youth and know-how. Moore and Curtis fighting for the left offers competition, whether that comes via a loan or low-cost move.

Business, loans and balance

The sales and loan-out list show a plan to raise funds while keeping a strong matchday XI. Penrice, loan fees and the proposed transfer numbers all point to a summer that could balance the books and still leave a squad capable of challenging at the top. To be fair, it’s the kind of no-nonsense rebuild Rangers need — careful, targeted and with a clear idea of who trains and who plays.

Not flashy, but you can see why it would work. It’s a squad that looks capable of competing and, with a bit of luck, winning the league.
